Sara Turbeville, Licensed Aesthetician and Founder of SKIN
One day a long time ago, Sara was editing the news in a cubicle at the Nashville CBS affiliate, marveling at the realization she couldn’t stand her work. Even though she’d earned her BA in Communications (with honors), interned, and eventually won what would be a dream starting-job for some, it just wasn’t clicking with her.
Though not a morning person, she knew there had to be something else— something that could rouse her out of bed each morning enthusiastic to get to work!
To add to her income she got a part-time job at a nearby department store, where they placed her in cosmetics. Ding! Ding! Ding! Though working with makeup was fun, it was there she discovered the fascinating world of skin care, which positively knocked her socks off. This was it. She started attending the local tech school where she earned her aesthetician’s license.
Though she’s still in a cozy cubicle of sorts (though much cuter) Sara has been happily immersed in the skincare industry for 25 years (ouch).
Over the course of her career, Sara has had the privilege of working with some of the country’s top dermatologists & plastic surgeons in Nashville, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica.
A bonafide skin-techie, Sara spends countless hours researching the latest and greatest in all things skin, studying dermatology journals, medical aesthetics periodicals, and numerous other professional aesthetics sources.
Wanting to realize her vision of emphasizing the “care” part of “skin care” Sara launched SKIN in 2008 (what a great year to start a new biz!)
It did turn out to be a great year. Her innovative, customized approach, charming studio, and easy-going demeanor proved a successful combination, and one that continues to beckon clients near and far. SKIN combines the best of science and nature, emphasizing holistic-medical products and treatments, all cruelty and paraben-free, with organic & wild-crafted choices.
Her innovative ideas on complexion care have impressed the likes of mega-brands such as Neutrogena and Le Mieux who’ve hired her to lend her expertise. Sara has also been featured in numerous print and online magazines, including Allure, who called her one of the ten best facialists in the country, The Zoe Report by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, LA Confidential, Beauty Bender, and JuliB, who dubbed her “The Skin Care Couturier”. Sara has even heard through the grapevine that her clients speak of her as “The Skin Whisperer”, a moniker she does not disavow.
